XML Inspector App Reviews
...to quickly analyse XML files. You can navigate the tree or inside the XML. Within the XML you can also find a string and the corresponding tree element is selected.
Does nothing
I run it and it does nothing at all. No windows pop up. Just sits and does nothing at all.
Very bad!
1) no syntax highlighting 2) can’t open large files (>7Mb)
bad bad bad it is not working
it is not working on os x mavericks. return my money!
Programma semplicissimo e intuitivo. This is a really simple and intuitive program. It opens my .html files and it shows on the left side a tree with the node names, while it shows on the right side the node content. Its best feature is speed, because it is a small app, so I can open a file by this app than by the IDE I am used to work with.
This XML inspector is great, however its missing a few key features that prohibit me from giving it a solid five-star rating (hint, hint to the developer)... 1. Attribute values in the preview panel really should wrap. 2. How about a menu item that can verify if XML is valid or not? 3. It would be great if the preview panel would show unescaped text (e.g. %20 becomes a non-breaking space). 4. Its a great inspector, but why not let it also be an editor? 5. An XML reformatter (a la TextMate) would be KILLER. All that said, Im really nitpicking here. I certainly dont want to take away from the fact that Ill be using this tool quite often. :)
Cannot do find / replace (only find)
This basic functionality is not included.
Not for fixing XML files
If youre looking for an app to fix an XML file which is corrupt, this is not it. It will fail to load corrupt XML files.
Obviously cant edit files, but it says in the first line of the description its just a viewer, so I dont understand all the negative reviews. Ive used it on files as big as 20MB and it works fine. Very useful. 4 stars instead of 5 because its a bit slow when viewing files 10MB+(interface is a bit laggy), you cant do a search unless the raw xml pane is highlighted (took me a while to realize it even had a search function, you have to click the right pane first), and I think the interface could be a tad improved (you cant highlight multiple branches, do expand all/close all, etc). Overall a good value for $3 and pretty useful.
I purchased the program to help me view and debug some RSS feeds and HTML pages. The first problem is you need to have the XML files on your computer. It has no ability to load the XML data from a URL. The second problem is its useless for debugging problems because it fails to load XML files that have problems. This makes it useless for debugging unless you know the XML structure is correct and you just want to view the content. The third problem is I could not get it to view a HTML page. It keeps giving me the "Document could not be opened." I downloaded the HTML for Googles search page and it couldnt even open that. Im not sure how they can say it supports HTML unless its HTML within an XML file. There is no help or support information for this program and the authors support page is useless. Save your money and avoid this app!
Wouldn
Why o why didnt I read the reviews on this first. I just wasted 2.99 for something I cant even open on my mac.
Useless
So much for syntax highlighting and cleansing invalid files. It wont even open them. Waste of $$
If you just want to view local XML files, this app is great. Not a lot of complex features, but its fine for what it is. My only real issue is that the app always opens up XML files unformatted. You have to click on "formatted view" every time you view a file. Sure would be nice to have a preference setting to always open XML formatted.
The xml I work with is usually well-formed but complex, and this app does a good job of showing the outline and highting the relevant sections as I click them. Very useful for understanding the xml so that I can write the parsing code.
I use it for scanning local XML files to quickly understand the structure and look for specific entries in the hierarchy. It does just fine for that and does it well. Just what I needed for the task of reviewing XML file contents.
The app makes it easy to view XML documents, it was perfect for what I needed. I am more of a business user and I need to see XML files so that I can read them easier, this was the perfect tool for me.
I would give this a 0 star if it were possible. I downloaded and paid $3 for this application and it won’t even open. I try to have it show “all windows” and nothng appears. I have tried restarting my computer and nothing seems to work.
